Default Mystic Whaler Cruises Seeks Cook Immediately!

Mystic Whaler Cook

Help wanted immediately! Or as soon as you can get here!

Are you interested in learning to sail on a tall ship while running
your own kitchen? The Mystic Whaler, a 110' traditionally rigged
schooner (a replica of a 19th century cargo schooner) docked in New
London, CT, is in dire need of an onboard cook for its passenger
season. This is an incredible opportunity. The Mystic Whaler runs
day sails (with lunch), lobster dinner cruises, and three to five day
sailing adventures in the Long Island Sound for the spring, and then
transits to the Chesapeake Bay area for the fall.

Job Description: As cook, you will be one of the most important
people on board. You will be responsible for cooking three meals a
day, sometimes just for the crew of six, but more often for forty to
fifty people on board (We can take up to 34 passengers on overnights,
and up to 60 on daysails, although those numbers are often lower).
Some meals are pre-planned (lobster dinner cruise w/ clam chowder,
daysail lunch of chicken sandwiches, etc), others will be planned by
you with more or less complete freedom over what you choose to serve.
You will also be responsible for keeping the galley and storage areas
organized and clean, doing inventory, and provisioning. You will be
assisted by one other crew member, the Galley Steward, but the galley
is YOUR domain. This is a fantastic opportunity for a good cook who
wants to run his or her own show. If successful, it would be quite a
resume builder, as it is a big responsibility. Additionally, the
chance to work on a 110' schooner in this manner is an amazing
opportunity-- a season on the Whaler is not something you will soon
forget!

Position available NOW thru mid October. (Only available for the
summer? Let's talk.)

Position requires:
- Cooking experience important, but sailing experience not
necessary- we'll train you!
- Meals must be ready on time.
- Flexibility and patience.
- Good people and delegation skills.
- A desire to learn and to live on a ridiculously beautiful boat.
- A positive attitude.

Perks:
- Housing on board and all meals included
- Very competitive pay
- Sail training
- Great people- The crew is like a family, and the passengers are
wonderful!
- Travel to various ports including:
Summer: Newport, Sag Harbor, Shelter Island, Block
Island, Mystic, Martha's Vineyard
Fall: Baltimore, Annapolis, St Michaels, Chestertown,
Rock Hall, Georgetown
- YOU GET TO GO SAILING EVERY DAY!

If this sounds interesting to you, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
