wrote: Came in my inbox, don't know where or when, am sharing them for others to enjoy.............. I've been surfing the USCG and net for years looking at big waves and boats in trouble , and in particularly a photo I saw in a Rusty Pelican restaurant in the '70s of a pleasure yaught crashing into large wave, leaving a harbor in Hawaii, but even after writing the CG, I've never found it, but this one of the life boat is very close, and a wonderful group of shots, were they taken from land? Thanks for posting. Greg http://gregsplace.50megs.com http://www.picturetrail.com/fugitive1 |

Yep, that is here on the Oregon Coast

US COAST GUARD 50 foot, Motor Lifeboat in heavy surf. Could be at the Motor Lifeboatman's School at Cape Disappointment, Oregon. Those boats can handle those conditions....it is what they were designed for. Aluminum Hulls and Superstructure, Pretty damn near unsinkable, will recover from a roll over in about 30 seconds. Even though it is the motto of the US Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers it holds true for those crewmembers too. "THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE!" SEMPER PARATUS. http://pages.sbcglobal.net/djf3rd/ |
