Minor corrections:
47 foot Motor Life Boat
Cape Disappointment, Ilwaco, Washington,
Mouth of the Columbia River. Border between Washington and
Oregon.
The boats can do it, just not done intentionally. Aot of soft
parts on top, other than the crew...radar and radio gear.
The Old Motto:

thanks for the link. expanded into quite the operation from
when it started. 60 odd people attached to the school now.
used to be a tenant command of the station (Cape Disappointment)
with a couple of permanent party attached and the rest were
loaners. school was in session in the off season (non-
summer)...

I've been surfing the USCG and net for years looking at big waves and
boats in trouble , and in particularly a photo I saw in a Rusty
Pelican restaurant in the '70s of a pleasure yaught crashing into
large wave, leaving a harbor in Hawaii, but even after writing the CG,
I've never found it, but this one of the life boat is very close, and
a wonderful group of shots, were they taken from land? Thanks for
posting.
