The Biesbos is a nature reservation full of islands, and habited by a few
farmers, They have land on some of the surrounding islands and use landing
craft to transport their livestock. (See picture) The Mail boat is
delivering the daily mail. There is a small opening at a dyke called
"postgat" (mail passage) it is used as a shortcut for the Mail boat.

Place this position 51 44 N 4 46 E in google earth (left top corner) and it
will bring you to the Biesbos, you will end up in a large basin (there are
several of them) used to store drinking water for Rotterdam.

In the summer yes, in the winter I would not like it.

Ones when I was sailing back to Antwerp, I took shelter in the Biesbos for a
upcoming storm, I spend four days lonely moored at a island in heavy rains,
mostly sleeping and listening to the radio, not really funny.

Thanks for the picture. It looks like a very peaceful place!

My original smart aleck response to your mail boat picture was a pun on the
letters "TNT" on the side of the boat. TNT = Trinitrotoluene, a powerful
explosive!
