What is strange is that the guy in front of the upper binoculars is using a small optical telemeter. I had no idea that they were still used. Why is it so small, the WW 2 versions of these instruments were much larger. probably keep track of the distance from the shore line would be major loss of face to run aground, like the The USS Missouri grounding in 17 January 1950 when the battleship ran aground while sailing out of Chesapeake Bay. |
