I haven't heard how much tuna is in this area. But I'm not very
knowledgeable, I can only recognize tuna when it says "tuna" on the can. g

Back in the 60s early 70s Galilee claimed to be the Tuna Capital of the
World and held a big tuna tournament at the beginning of September.
Sportfishing boats would come from all over to compete. They had an area
with a big scale and rack and a crowd would gather around to see the
tuna brought in, hung up and weighed. Some were a 800 pounds or more!It
all ended later in the 70s when no tuna were being caught.

Large Bluefin tuna are caught off Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia
in Late August and September. Part of the fishery is catch and release
for tuna charters and some is brought ashore and sold to the Japanese
market where it commands very high prices.

That said the world Bluefin population is not healthy and there are
efforts to make it a endangered species. This is particularly true of
the Mediterranean population which has been fished very hard.

Paul & Colin,
Thanks for the tuna info. Maybe some day I will see a couple wander through
the canal.
