The Welland Canal season begins on Thursday April 2nd. But the CCGS
icebreaker Pierre Radisson is required in Lake Erie to bust up a LOT of ice. Don't think it is as bad as 2014, but it's still more than most recent seasons. There's no ice in the Canal (at least not below Lock 7, I didn't check above). Picture taken as the Radisson tied up briefly (for about 20 minutes) below Lock 2 in St Catherines Ontario. Steve |

The basic problem is "same old,,,same old". The ships mostly look the same as last week's, last month's, last year's. Another problem is that some of the decent places for photos have been fenced off making that elusive great picture a toughie. Picked up a SONY QX-10 (smartphone attachable) camera to see if that would help around some of the fences. It won't work with my phone, so I have to take the tablet or borrow my wife's phone, and even then the connection is problematic. Glad I got it cheap. Also picked up a circular polarizing filter to see if I can get some improved skies. Steve |

Yeah, I know, sometimes you get tired of the same old scenes but it can
be fun just to get out of the house and hang out by the water...and give your new filter a try!
