It's the day before the Welland Canal officially opens. The Canal
itself has some ice: around Lock 7, and especially in Port Colborne
which is next to the mostly frozen Lake Erie. But the rest of the
system is iced up. So the Canadian Coast Guard has brought in a
bigger icebreaker to try and get commercial shipping moving.

Here the Pierre Radisson has left Lock 3 in St Catharines Ontario on
its way to Lake Erie.
