Hi -
Does anyone know a good resource on power racing boats of the 1890s? Steam-powered boats and the like? We have some photographs of some interesting vessels - such as http://jsjohnston.org/~javelin.html - which we'd like to learn more about... any thoughts on what "Javelin" was? Also - does anyone know who held the powerboat speed records during the late 1800s? Thanks! C. |

Also check out the "Norwood" - http://jsjohnston.org/~norwood.html -
"Doing a Mile in 2.12½" Presumably that's 2 minutes and 12.5 seconds, or about 27mph. The date of the photo was Nov. 6, 1891. Any ideas what the Norwood was? What were the details of this apparent record? C On Jun 17, 5:09 pm, "C. Baer" wrote: Hi - Does anyone know a good resource on power racing boats of the 1890s? Steam-powered boats and the like?
