I recently traded an old pressure cooker for an eTrex. For a Garmin 45 and
enough batteries to keep it running for a week, I'd trade an old frying pan, you pick up the shipping both ways. The eTrex is currently in production, while the 45 is long out of it. Didn't Garmin first start marketing the 45 back in 1998 or 1997? Garmin has added some bells and whistles to its line of model 72's and 76's, which are basically outgrowths of the model 45 and 48. The real question inGPS selection, IMHO, is does the unit do what you need it to do, how easy is itto use underway, can it stand up to the marine environment, and is itaffordable? The model 45 gets a thumbs up in all these categories. ----------------------------------------------------------------------rec ..boats.marketplace is a moderated newsgroup.
