Eisboch I counted 31 posts here since midnight. Of these: Six had something to do with boats. Of those: Four were from Tim, who mostly stays on topic here, but three of those had nothing to do with recreational boating. There were two whining posts from regulars here, including one from you, and the usual drool from Wally. As previously stated, if you want this to be a newsgroup about recreational boating, you have it withing your power to make it so. Of course, you'll have to convince the remaining few regulars here who actually "boat" to go along. Good luck with that. As for the crossposters, there are a couple whose posts are worth reading, and there are more whose posts are the same sort of mindless idiocy Loogy posts. Cheers. |

He has an insatiable need to be seen, heard and to spread his political gospel. Dragging the other NGs in here by crossposting is just another example of his hypocrisy and his ill will to those who don't share his POV. Ironically, he represents everything that is bad in his political affiliation. Eisboch |

It has entirely to do with the indisputable fact that this is not a recreational boating newsgroup anymore, and it doesn't matter who or what is posted here. |

Subjects of discussion should be by consensus, not by decree of one individual. If Harry didn't engage in the same practices on subjects dear to him, of which he complains about others, he would have a credible point. But, he's the biggest offender. And he has lap dogs like you to support him. It's a game to him, (and you) that's all. He basically admits it. You should too. Eisboch |

It just would be nice to see regular faces in here, discussing subjects of common interest and not the wacko's dragged in by you know who, just to disrupt the NG. For the record, I enjoy reading and conversing with almost all the people here, on boating subjects or not. Even Harry, when he is not on one of his obnoxious political crusades. IMO, every post or subject need not be directly boating related, as long as the subjects are of general interest to most. If they are not of general interest, the threads or initial post soon die. Old school plank owners of Usenet correctly point out the practice or custom of 100% on-topic posting. The practice originated back in the days of 1200 baud (or less), dial-up, Internet connections where downloading a bunch of posts would take 10 minutes or more. In those days it was important to stay completely on topic because otherwise you wasted people's time and affected telephone bills as they downloaded off topic posts. Those days are gone. It takes a second now to download the subject headers of a 100 or more posts. IMO, (and it's only an opinion) the speed and bandwidth today allows for a relaxation of old Usenet customs. Discussing varied subjects, of common interest, is not a big deal, in my opinion. Personal insults, flame wars, threats, or using the NG on a regular basis to further one's own agenda should still be off-limits, I think, but it's probably too much to realistically expect. Of the thousands of complaints about Harry that have been posted here, few affect him. Although I did notice he gets upset when he is called a draft dodging coward. And he does get a little uptight when we critique his little L.T. boat. ;-) You are the last person of merit that will talk to him on a regular basis. I wish you would stop. |

Eisboch A very reasoned post. Without the hk stuff, it's like sitting around the dock and discussing a variety of subjects. If it was limited strictly to boating, the posts would be pretty thin. Usenet isn't exactly growing. Don't know if anyone's noticed this, http://www.comcast.net/newsgroups/ but it may be indicative of what the big guys are doing. Cox is still 'supporting' newsgroups as a 'free service'. Somewhere along the line Cox excluded newsgroups as part of their 'internet access' for which one pays. Now that Comcast is discontinuing the service, I wonder how long it will be before Cox does the same. -- John H. |

He is doing what he does best - dragging folks into his particular gutter with his 'enticing' conversation. ****, doesn't your filter work? -- John H. What filter? I don't use em. |
