Since a couple of people liked the pirate pictures I posted recently, here's
three more.

Yesterday we moved him from the deck to a location on the dunes, overlooking
the Bay.

Now that changes my whole pov on the thing. Looks great there, how you
gonna' keep it from "swimming" off with some drunk college kid? But it
looks right at home there...sweet..

I am glad they didn't talk you into returning it. What are you doing to
make sure it doesn't walk off?

Jeeez...almost a boating related post from the great poseur, Reggie.
Next, we'll figure out how the pirate statute is one step removed from
Kevin Bacon.

If he does walk off let's hope he has the good sense to send post
cards back from around the world wherever his travels take him. You
could make a movie about it. :-)

Most around here don't say "poor".

We moved it there because I may bring the boat up through the canal and
anchor just offshore for a few days.
I wanted a very identifiable landmark that I could see from the boat because
all the beach houses will look the same from 150-200 yards offshore.

Use a hand held GPS on the beach to get a precise fix. If you can
pin point the house on Google Earth that will give you exact Lat/Lon
also.

If the wind pipes up out of the nor'east you will have some exciting
moments coming and going from the beach. I'd suggest towing the
dinghy so you don't have to worry about launching it in the swells.
Ours can be a real bear to control if the boat is rolling and the
dinghy is in the air.

Good idea on towing the dink. The majority of the trip will be about 45
minutes through the Canal at 10 kts or less anyway. But, then again, with a
N or NE wind and no mooring block, I don't think I'd try leaving the boat
just offshore on anchors only. I am sure you are familiar with what happens
at that end of Cape Cod Bay after a couple of days of stiff NE winds.
