Hey, I just noticed something.

A while back I was complaining about Firefox and the "text size" setting.
You could increase it for a session, but it automatically defaulted back to
normal when Firefox was closed and then restarted.

The new version fixed that. Now, it's called "zoom" instead of "text size",
and once set to your liking, it remains set, even after you close and then
restart Firefox.

Only complaint I have is that apparently there is no way to clear the URL
location history. That's the box that opens when you click on the little
arrow on the right side of the URL field and displays several previously
visited website URL's.
That used to clear when you cleared history, I think, but no more, and
there's no obvious way of clearing it.

Not a big deal, but it's annoying.

Tried that, but didn't see any pertinent selections. Did the "clear private

"help" and searched for "clear url location" and found a couple of comments

Here's one PITA way to do it.

Point the cursor at the top entry in the drop down list, don't click, just
point and the entry will be highlighted. Nest press and hold the DEL key
till they are all deleted. Takes a second or two for a long list.

Something must be broken in this version. Used to work.

Private Data, I've got options for always clearing when closing and ask me

different types of 'Private Data'.

Something screwy here.

It's been my experience that if you go to the FF forum and explain
your problem some one will come along and supply an add-on or it will
be fixed in the next version. There is a plug in for making the
address menu act like the V2 menu, I think it's called "old menu" or
soemthing like that.

That's the one thing that annoys me about Mizilla open source products
including Thunderbird and Filezilla - they change things between
versions sometimes and one feature that you like is changed or moved
to a different location and you have to hunt to find out how to do
something that you've always done before.

In this case the feature is broken.

Your point is well taken. With so many people doing the development in so
many different locations the project coordination gets un-coordinated.

Ctrl Shift Del didn't work? Bye the bye, in the drop down menu, if there
is a star next to the url, it's a bookmark. Those will not be deleted.
At least it works on Linux's version of 3.0.1.

Same deal, but are you *sure* it is clearing your URL field location memory?

Eisboch

Yup. I just tried it. I selected, "Always clear my private data when I
close Firefox". I then closed it. When I reopened the only thing in History
was the page that had opened, my home page.

I have Firefox 3.01, and the clear will clear my history, but I had the
same problem Eisboch had, it would not clear the address bar of the
history. Then I realized the address bar was not saving my history, but
was showing me my favorites.

Hey, I just noticed something.

A while back I was complaining about Firefox and the "text size"
setting.
You could increase it for a session, but it automatically defaulted
back
to normal when Firefox was closed and then restarted.

The new version fixed that. Now, it's called "zoom" instead of "text
size", and once set to your liking, it remains set, even after you
close
and then restart Firefox.

Only complaint I have is that apparently there is no way to clear the
URL
location history. That's the box that opens when you click on the
little
arrow on the right side of the URL field and displays several
previously
visited website URL's.
That used to clear when you cleared history, I think, but no more,
and
there's no obvious way of clearing it.

Not a big deal, but it's annoying.

Tried that, but didn't see any pertinent selections. Did the "clear

comments
by other users. Both said it can't be cleared in the new version of

and
clearing private data when exiting firefox. Do these not work?
Nope. This is Firefox version 3.0.1
I just updated to it yesterday.

The URL location box remains no matter what I do to clear it.

Eisboch

Same version I updated to a couple weeks ago. Are you using Vista?
I'm
using XP, although I wouldn't think that would make any difference.
Under
'Privacy', I've got options for History, Cookies, and Private Data.
Under
Private Data, I've got options for always clearing when closing and
ask me
first. I've also got a settings section which allows me to chose
from eight
different types of 'Private Data'.

Something screwy here.
Using XP.
Same deal, but are you *sure* it is clearing your URL field location
memory?

Eisboch
Yup. I just tried it. I selected, "Always clear my private data when
I
close Firefox". I then closed it. When I reopened the only thing in
History
was the page that had opened, my home page.
I have Firefox 3.01, and the clear will clear my history, but I had
the same problem Eisboch had, it would not clear the address bar of
the history. Then I realized the address bar was not saving my
history, but was showing me my favorites.
I just took me a while to figure out what Eisboch was talking about.

It's simply further proof of what a totally inept assholish idiot I am
when
it comes to computers. (Or, to save Harry the trouble, anything else in
life.)

I'm surprised neither of our two 'experts', jimaitch or aitch kaye,
didn't
jump in to help Eisboch.
I am glad you realized you don't know anything about anything. it is
important to understand your limitations. ;)

On a serious note, you do seem to have your priorities correct as far as
your family and wife. I do want to know how you ended up with such a
good looking wife and family. Your wife's gene's must have all been
dominate. ;)

Or the daddy was some else!

Well you were in the army and spent a lot of time away. On the positive
side, you can say she had good taste in men.

Can you two take this flirting to a motel somewhere.
We'd like to keep this a family newsgroup.

Hey, I just noticed something.

A while back I was complaining about Firefox and the "text
size"
setting.
You could increase it for a session, but it automatically
defaulted
back
to normal when Firefox was closed and then restarted.

The new version fixed that. Now, it's called "zoom" instead
of "text
size", and once set to your liking, it remains set, even after
you
close
and then restart Firefox.

Only complaint I have is that apparently there is no way to
clear the
URL
location history. That's the box that opens when you click on
the
little
arrow on the right side of the URL field and displays several
previously
visited website URL's.
That used to clear when you cleared history, I think, but no
more, and
there's no obvious way of clearing it.

Not a big deal, but it's annoying.

Tools Options Privacy Private Data

Once you get there it should be obvious how to make the
selections you
are
interested in.

Tried that, but didn't see any pertinent selections. Did the
"clear
private
data" using the default checked boxes, but that didn't do it.
Went to
"help" and searched for "clear url location" and found a couple
of
comments
by other users. Both said it can't be cleared in the new
version of
Firefox.

Just to be clear, John, we are not talking about what's displayed in the
"History" tab.
What you do *will* clear that.

We are talking about what's stored in the URL locations field ......
keeps
previously searched URLs...... awww... forget it.

Eisboch

Dunderhead. I've explained how to adjust every aspect of firefox to
you previously.

about:config

You are not paying attention. Read and think before you mouth off.

Eisboch

about:config controls pretty much every aspect of how firefox woirks
and what it does. You could set it to never even save those links to
start with.

When you use any of the settings in the drop down menus, it's just
making changes in the config file.

Well Donnie, your buddy Harry keeps referring to cowardly pussies, and you
say not a word. What does that make you?

Get it? Eh?
