Default 1986 Johnson 60 Horsepower 3 cylinder

I'm 18, just bought my first boat, a used boat. I'm having some
electrical problems.
Namely, It is picky about when it wants to start or not.
Also, I ran it in my driveway, and I noticed that the battery
terminals were hot enough to burn.
I quickly shut it down, used pliers to disconnect the terminals, and,
am looking for some input and ideas on what might cause this.

Any help would be appreciated, and thanks ahead of time.

What does that mean? Does it turn over or refuse to fire?

Also, I ran it in my driveway, and I noticed that the battery

It isn't clear if this happened during starting or while running.

Cranking too long, problem with the starter and/or starter circuit.
Other issues with the battery and/or charging circuit. We'll need more
information......

Wherever the heat was you will find the problem. A bad connection or cable
end.

The engine will start, and then, for no apparent reason, after fishing
or what have you, for a awhile, go to start it again, and, no luck.
Paddling the boat a couple of miles is no fun.

The heat was noticed with the boat running.

Thanks
