Not to worry. Beta is going fine and I'll soon offer a "crap free"
option to those that want to read it. Of course, all others are free
to continue to post crap and swear they are trying to "clean up" the
newsgroup.

Gene,
I am curious when you open your server will you allow people access to
your server whose sole purpose of reading rec.boats is to observe and
comment about "rec.boats" being flushed down the toilet, then spend 90%
of their time talking about the Seven Little Schitts? It seems that that
would be counterproductive to your reason for starting a "filtered
server".

I would suggest he could start out by banning the 7 dwarfs...and see how it
goes from there.

I've not bothered to keep up with the rosters of dwarfs... and
whatever faux us-against-them groups. Posts will be dropped, not
specifically because of whom, but *what* is posted.

As necessary, I will drop posting hosts, IP addresses, and ISPs that
can't prove their usefulness.... or perhaps I should say because they
aid and abet USENET vandals.

Yes....

That is my intent, for all those really interested in less noise.

Gene: will your server filter out all the trash, including discussions
of golf, motor homes, grandchildren, guitars, et cetera? I guess what I
am asking is, what topics will be filtered? And does your server read
the posts, or just the headers?

Thanks!

Yeah, right, I want to post my golf scores, information about my motor
home, photos of my grandchildren and guitars and kiddie motorcycle
racing. The point is, if it doesn't filter out that sort of crap, what's
the point?

Anytime you want to take a proctored IQ test and have the proctor post
the results, I'll be glad to do the same. Or perhaps you and loogy will
let us know what happens at the next general conclave of the prometheus
society.

Well, it's time to quit a bad habit again, I hope... I am getting
ready for the "new wrecked.boats" you are officially "plonked". BTW,
your IQ means zip. A friend was the youngest ever full professor at
Johns Hopkins. and he admits he can't turn a screw or tie a shoe
without a book..... Later windoze boy...
