My personal all-around bestest rifle is a older Winchester lever action that was rechambered and re-barreled to .325 with iron sights. Custom match ammo and that rifle is as accurate at a laser. Are you referring to the semi-auto Ljungman? Not one of my favorites. I prefer the old reliable bolt action swedish mauser for 6.5x55 rounds.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Yessir, I was. i dont' have a bolt Swede, but the Ljungman is an amazing machine. When loading that first round into the chamber, it's so fascinating watching all those parts sliding around. brilliant design. then the Egyptiand decided to copy it and make the "HAKIM" chambered in 30-06 and really kind of butchered the design IMHO. But harry, i have a couple of 7.5x55 Swiss "Straight pulls" For military arms, they are absolute works of art. Especially for their time period they are perfect specimens of Swiss machining. Extreme accuracy, too! If I were buying a rifle, I'd want one of the Swedish Mausers or, if I were buying a new rifle, I'd buy one of the modern knock-off with "Mauser action." In anything larger than .22LR, I prefer bolt action. But I am really more into pistols. Here's a target from my day with a semi-auto shooting .40S&W, 25 yards, offhand. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...us/40-0004.jpg I shoot .22LR with a nice old Victor: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ous/victor.jpg and also a Ruger, and I shoot competitively with this work of art: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...us/x-five1.jpg It's a 9mm Sig Sauer X-5, wearing its everyday grips. To me a 22 revolver or bolt action boring. But one of the nicest pistols I've ever shot was my brothers Walther PPK in .22. The top of the slide is V-shaped with a little dot on the far end. No back sight. you eye lines through the V down the slide to the dot. If I may candidly use the phrase, it's one io the most fun "point 'n shoot" pistols I've had the pleasure of working with. The PPKs have a long and colorful history, far beyond the "Bond" novels, and make a great pocket gun if you like to pocket or conceal carry semi-autos. Can I interrupt to tell you about my new guitar? Eisboch That would fall under the off (or on) topic categories which cause severe complaining from the complain department. |

Eisboch *That's* and interesting wager! How will the ball be delivered to the bat? Tee-ball? The club will win. A pitch? Now you have a challenge! The 'longest' home run was no more than 650 feet, and that's being most generous. It was probably less than 550 feet. That's less than 225 yds, which ain't squat for one who can hit a decent drive. Hell, Lorena Ochoa, at about 130lbs, regularly pounds them beyond 280 yards. The wager is a golf ball hit from a baseball bat and a club - not a baseball. |

No wonder you can't hit the green on a par 3. 650 feet = 216 yards, 550 feet = 183 yards. John's right. Read his post again. |
