One day you may learn, although I think you already have but will not
admit.

Carry on Grasshopper.

Fair enough.. I agree it is hard to disagree with the points I
brought up.

Have a good evening.

Why do I always sense of feeling of jealousy you have concerning Eisboch's
and Wayne's financial success? You love to talk about your "heritage
knives" and John Deere lawn mower, but resent it when someone else is more
successful.

Grasshopper, I think you have a lot to learn. To start with read the
bible, they say something about coveting your neighbors goods.

I hope he doesn't have a mental meltdown like he did a couple of years ago.
That was pathetic to watch.
Have I been missing something?
What are heritage knives?
What can you say about a JD lawn tractor other than it cuts grass?

Heritage knives are the kitchen knives JimH uses. They are fine knives on
which he would never use a good electric sharpener because he wants to pass
them on to his kids. When JimH dies, his kids still won't have a set of
good knives in their kitchens.

Hey! I was *trying* to be polite. Well, not really. :) I can hardly
wait for the Daily Double Bakers' Dozen from Diarrhea Dan (DK) to be
caught and flushed, though the effluent probably will clog the filter
for a moment or two.

Plenty of smaller boats out yesterday on Chesapeake Bay, again more than
I have seen in a while. When I got back to the ramp, we were all treated
to the sounds of a double engined, mufferless "penis boat" being started
and warmed up for some 50-gallon an hour "excitement." This is mostly a
fisherman's marina I use these days, and just about everybody goes out
of their way to be friendly, helpful, and non-intrusive, even, god help
me, the PWC'ers. So the dweeb with the "penis boat" got a few Bronx
cheers as he chugged out of the little harbor. Oh...he had the
obligatory heavy gold chain necklace and the babe with him had the
obligatory artificial tits. Well, at least she wouldn't need a life
jacket, no matter what happened.

My wife has me out in the yard, shoveling mulch. It's 87F and rising and
the humidity is about the same, so I duck inside after shoveling,
wheelbarrowing, and dumping each three wheelbarrows full. It makes me so
happy my wife found a supplier of cypress mulch by the truckload instead
of by the bagful. :)

Most warranties are going to be fairly specific about the type of fuel
you can use. If not, there would be people wanting to sue them over
unsuccessfully using propane (or acetylene, or hydrogen) in a boat.

The law was on your side.... it probably won't be for Downtime....

The full email is pasted below. I am curious to know if they, or any
company can decide to change warranty terms 'on the fly'. I think I
might be missing something here, time for a call to the dealer to
clarify this.

"To All BMW of Fort Myers Customers:

We have been advised by BMWNA that with the release of E10 and E85
gasoline with ethanol, there is a need to advise customers that is very
important to put quality gasoline into their vehicles.

The sale of E10, blended ethanol fuel, is on the rise in the US as more
states are mandating its use to improve air quality. *Also promoting the
growth of E10 allows the phase out of the current additive MTBE that has
been found to contaminate ground water supplies. *Even so, the amount of
ethanol added to the gasoline could raise the alcohol level of the fuel
and cause your vehicle to crank, but not start; stall out; and/or run
rough. *BMW has advised us that they will not warranty, or goodwill,
necessary repairs due to bad gas or high alcohol content in the fuel.

Some of the parts that could be damaged by poor fuel quality include
fuel pumps (high pressure pumps as well), fuel filter, injectors, etc.
The problems start because E10 is very effective solvent and it will
attack varnish, gum, and resins: *the sludge that can build up in fuel
tanks. *Once cleaned off the fuel tank walls, poor performance with
clogged filters and injectors is common. *Also ethanol has a great
affinity for water, and will attract moisture from the atmosphere. Water
is heavier than gas so the water/ethanol molecule is dragged to the
bottom of the tank and separates from the more buoyant fuel molecules. *
This is called phase separation. *When this separation occurs you end up
with a corrosive water/ethanol layer on the bottom of the tank, under
what is now substandard fuel. *Water displaces gasoline and then pits
and corrodes the metal surfaces causing premature wear on the fuel
pump. *Water also reacts with various components in the fuel and forms
acids, which corrode the injector tips as well.

Water when sucked into an engine will shut it down. *It must be cleaned,
and the oil changed. *However, a water/ethanol mixture causes a more
serious problem, because instead of just shutting the engine down, the
mixture can be partially combusted, but not effectively, which can
damage the engine. *Over a period of time this mixture will cause
excessive carbon deposits, which can wear on pistons and valves.

We recommend that only "top tier" fuels be used, and if necessary a
gasoline additive with "techron" be added, occasionally. *If possible,
make sure you know your gasoline retailer and try to buy your gasoline
from the same location as often as possible. *The best deal isn't always
the cheapest deal."

This is absurdity on its face. Almost all gasoline is delivered to
retail stations from tank farms, where everyone's product is pretty much
* exactly this same, other than additives dumped in to raise octane.

You think "Shell" gasoline comes from Shell?

How are you supposed to know if you are buying "top tier" gasoline,
since what's in the tanks of the service stations could be almost anything.- Hide quoted text -

As for gasoline .... according to this chemist, it's all in the additives.
Furthermore, he points out that crude from which gasoline is refined varies,
even within a specific brand.

He has an interesting recommendation; change brands every 5000 miles or so
on a rotating basis to get the benefits of the different brand additives.

What "additives"? Who adds it after the trucker, who doesn't have any way
to add anything and doesn't carry anything to add it with, picks it up?
The marina doesn't add anything. I've watched 'em. They did add a stick
to see how deep it was in the tank. There wasn't anything on the stick
except some water detector paste on the bottom that turns color if there's
water in the tank.

The trucks that carry gas from the dump here to the stations varies. There
are a few trucks that LOOK like Exxon or Texaco with large signage on them
to that effect. There are hundreds of trucks that have no markings at all
because they belong to a couple of tankage companies who haul lots more
than gas, one about a mile from my home....

So, where is all this wonderful "additives", which must be a thousand
gallons in a 50,000 gallon underground tank, not some drop-in tablet that
would dilute the gas a billion to one, now?

Nonsense. Gas is gas and just like any other common commodity comes from
the LOWEST BIDDER, whoever has gas the cheapest, today, on the commodity
market. Notice what the brokers are selling! They sell GAS and DIESEL and
BUNKER C and LUBE OIL. There is no commodity named SUNOCO SUPER BLEND on
the commodity exchanges. It only exists in the consumer's mind......

...............just like AMSOIL!

We don't get fuel from tankers. We get it from underground tankage, bigger
than tankers.

All that nonsense aside, my point is the TRUCK DRIVER doesn't have 400
gallons of "additives" to put in the 7000 gallon truck, either.

That's all just bull****.

Wrong, Pilgrim.
I didn't "learn" anything. The material things I own or have owned were
purchased because they interested me and I enjoyed them. Some still
interest me. Some have served their time.
I like trying different things. Keeps life interesting.
Eisboch
One day you may learn, although I think you already have but will not
admit.
Carry on Grasshopper.

Fair enough.. I agree it is hard to disagree with the points I
brought up.
Have a good evening.

Why do I always sense of feeling of jealousy you have concerning
Eisboch's and Wayne's financial success? You love to talk about your
"heritage knives" and John Deere lawn mower, but resent it when someone
else is more successful.

Grasshopper, I think you have a lot to learn. To start with read the
bible, they say something about coveting your neighbors goods.

I am not coveting anything , do not resent anyone and am not jealous
of anyone's success. What I stated is the truth. Sorry you see it
differently.

BTW: The knives are JA Henckels and my John Deere tractor is running
just fine.

What we see differently is, that I have no need to try to enforce a list
of acceptable material possessions onto someone else. You seem to
believe your materials goods are so valuable that a set of knives become
"heritage knives' that you include in your will, yet Eisboch's purchases
are a waste of money and time. There are many people who would tell you
that your boat, car and home are useless material possessions that will
not bring you any happiness, and you should sell them all and move into
a cave to spend all of your time praying for peace and serenity. After
all grasshopper, material positions are easy to buy, but they will not
bring you happiness. You might be the only person I know who I would
make this recommendation. If anyone needs "Serenity Now" it is you.
You are sounding more like Harry every day. "If the boat is bigger than
mine, no one needs it, and it should be taxed out of existence". EH?

One of my near neighbors bought a 760 something or other recently, and
he let me drive it. Well, it's a very nice car, to be sure, and very
fast, but you get into a schittload of trouble down here in Southern
Maryland if you exceed 150 mph on the highways! :) I think he paid in
the low six figures for the car. For that, he could have bought my old
Jag, which is still sitting in a "hermetically sealed warehouse," and
had a *real* sport car.

Seriously, I just can't see spending a ton of money on a new car. Most
cars today are pretty competent, and I suppose you buy whichever one you
like and can afford.

My wife is shopping for a new car. So far, she's got it narrowed down to
either a VW bug convertible *or* a Toyota FJ. The cars are so similar, I
can understand her liking both. :)

I like the Beetle, too, but I am subtly trying to convince her to buy
Japanese so I don't have to deal with German overengineering. Again.

I think we are talking two different things here. I am not referring to
motor oil. I am talking about gasoline.
The point the chemist was making was that gas is gas when initially refined
from crude. What differentiates the different brands is the type and amount
of additives they use. Mobil claims to have twice the amount required by
EPA standards. Chevron touts it's "Techron" or whatever. Shell uses
their proprietary "V Power" in the high test. Each of these additives are
required to minimize deposits, but each is a different formulation or
amount.

So, gas may be gas. But the gas you buy at Mobil is different than the gas
you buy at Shell ... or Chevron. That was his point, and I found it
interesting that he recommended rotating the brand every 5k miles to get the
full benefit of each of these different additives.

sealed warehouse" along with his lobster boat, and some evidence of
his father's infamous trip across the Atlantic and back in a runabout
leading to a fireboat welcome in NYC!!!!

On another note, remember the before pics of the problem I had? I'll
be sending some updates soon.

Cool, glad to hear things are coming back to normal... *I will be
awaiting the pics. Hope CoolBreeze is doing better too. Is that clutch
hand out of the cast yet? If not, I have a bike that's one speed..
fun...;)- Hide quoted text -

Yep, she hasn't put the velcro cast for the clutch hand on in awhile,
it's still a little stiff. The throttle hand is coming along, she'll
need physical therapy on that, but it's a velcro cast now too. She got
in the pool yesterday evening, was good to see!

Well, it's a very nice car, to be sure, and very
fast, but you get into a schittload of trouble down here in Southern
Maryland if you exceed 150 mph on the highways! *:) I think he paid in
the low six figures for the car. For that, he could have bought my old
Jag, which is still sitting in a "hermetically sealed warehouse,"

Somebody better alert the neighbours first.
They might have something to say about a motley, nasty crew of dwarfs
infesting the neighbourhood.

You're getting so much like Harry it's strange. You know nothing about
me, yet you try to act like you do. You used to be the decent one of
the three idiots, but now you've stooped to their low level with name
calling, insults, deceit, and lies.

Hmmmm. The Justwait and Loogy families getting together to socialize,
and maybe even...breed. Imagine the results of *that* sort of
cross-pollinization...an entirely new breed of semi-human that spends
its days walking repeatedly into brick walls.

Herring lives in Virginia...I'm sure he'd welcome a few more trailers on
his front lawn for the "visit."

Maybe we could go east a little and see if we could find that elusive
36' Zimmerman like lobster boat that Harry pretends he owns!
