Default Paddlefest Celebrates Ohio River Recreation

Last Update: 6/28 10:30 pm

Their t-shirts read "Save Gas, Paddle To Work." This pretty much captured
the sentiment of the Paddlefest 2008.

Participants canoed and kayaked from Coney Island to the Serpentine Wall to
celebrate the 77th annual event. The ride ending in Downtown Cincinnati
included a festival with food, music, paddling supplies for sale, and tips
on keeping the river clean.

Paddlefest organizer Brewster Rhoads tells 9News, "Today's event makes the
Ohio River Paddlefest the largest on water canoe and kayak event in terms
of numbers of particpiants in the country."

The event Saturday is also dedicated to Jim Shaw, a registered paddler who
lost his life on the Little Miami River last Sunday.
