Did you see this? http://www.swsports.org/images/Movies/strike.wmv I've been hanging out in Scituate since buying the new (old) boat and bringing it down from the North Shore last month. My oldest grandson wants to make the trip from Scituate to Kingman on the Cape and I've been eyeing the weather almost daily for a decent day to go. It's only takes about three hours, but he's never been on a larger boat on the ocean and I want his first experience to be a good one. Seems like everyday it's been heavy fog until late morning, then thunderstorms in the afternoon. Meanwhile, I've been enjoying the use of a free slip in Scituate, thanks to the owners of the Mill Wharf Marina, but I don't want to take advantage of it. Hopefully we'll get a nice, clear day next week and we'll get underway. To my grandson, traveling down the South Shore coast, through the Cape Cod Canal and then over to Kingman will be like traveling across the Atlantic. Eisboch Grandkids are nothing but great! Which gives me another excuse to show off my latest acquisition: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...g1/License.jpg Seasickness and the associated mental state would not be a good way to introduce the kid to the water! Updating that vanity plate could get expensive in a fertile family. Eisboch |

Eisboch You need to talk to Harry and JimH. Taking a child on a boat is FAR too dangerous of an activity, and there are child endangerment laws to protect them, according to those two. |

Frankly, I have too many things to do and enjoy than to pay attention or listen to the two Freudian Delights of rec.boats. Eisboch |

I was going to write you to see if you made it to Kingman yet. I'm still trying to find some time to invite myself over to see it. Sounds like a blast and a good time for the Grandson. WHOO HOO!! |

Did you record that? I don't like lightening. Mrs.E. thinks it's cool, but having worked around high voltage for many years and being seriously zapped a couple of times, I head for the innermost part of the house when it's around. Smart man. I used to sit out on my porch and watch the storms come rolling in, until a bolt hit a tree about 20' away. Now, I head inside. Something about where I live, my property averages about 1 lightning strike a year, but at least I've never been hit, unlike this poor guy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Sullivan A guy got zapped by lightening last week in Scituate. He was kayaking or something. He survived, but received some bad burns in his head and hands. Eisboch |

Eisboch We get lighting storms in the mountains at times, but are not that common here. Except last week. Lots of dry lighting storms. One of the reasons, we have a state with about 800 fires going. Looks like the midwest sky. hazy and warm. |

Did you see this? http://www.swsports.org/images/Movies/strike.wmv Did you record that? Sure did - I was testing the new camera and the image stabilization during the last round of T-storms that came through here. As you can see, I had some trouble with the image stabilization - got it figured out now. Pretty cool huh? I don't like lightening. Mrs.E. thinks it's cool, but having worked around high voltage for many years and being seriously zapped a couple of times, I head for the innermost part of the house when it's around. Doesn't bother me as long as I'm under cover. Like you, I've been zapped a few times myself including one time when I was on one of my towers and had a close hit. One of these days, I'm going to finish up my remote sensor hook up to my still cameras, head up the hill and take some images while I'm safe in the truck. :) A guy got zapped by lightening last week in Scituate. He was kayaking or something. He survived, but received some bad burns in his head and hands. Read about that - now that's a little much for me. I see lightning on the water, I'm heading for the closest land ASAP. |
