Anyone ever used them? West Marine has them on sale this week.

Had them on a "loaner" trailer I borrowed from my dealer in Florida when
the "bearing buddy" on the trailer he sold me failed.

Failed? What happened?
Just curious, I have Bearing Buddies on a couple of pretty old
trailers and, so far so good.

I've never had a bearing buddy fail either. You just have to make sure to
check them, and grease them as necessary. Pretty simple stuff.

They fall off on rough highways.

I've never bought either the Fulton or the Bearing Buddy, but the damn
things are sized to the thousandth of an inch. You'd think they'd stay on!

It's sounding like no one's heard of the Fulton Bearing Protector, this
one: http://tinyurl.com/5pebls. Maybe I'd better stick to the tried and
true Bearing Buddy, and keep it maintained and tight!

Thanks for all the responses.

Should be OK if you do. My old trailer had them with no problems.

I've been using BBs for 30 years or more. Never had a problem with
them. Never heard of problem with them. Over time the pressure on the
grease needs to be restored with a pump or two on the grease gun. The
need for frequent regreasing indicates a failure somewhere else
(spindle seal). Any possible failure of bearing buddies should be
detected in time to prevent bearing/spindle damage. That is, of
course, if your eyes send messages to your brain and your brain
processes that information correctly. :-)

When doing a long tow, and the BB leaves the building, the axle is toast
most times before you stop for the next refuel. Since I tow anywhere from
15 miles to 1000 miles over non-maintained highways (California and
Washington) they get beat off the vehicle. Last axle replacement was with a
Dexter axle with a built in lube system. So one Dexter axle and one with
BB's. Looking to replace before the next trip to Tofino with oil bath hubs.
