This means you caught none? Or this means the big sob took your rod, reel,
and boat?

Well, let me put it this way.

Up at 0400, morning routine, grabbed my waders, brandy new Loomis 7
foot graphite fly rod, new Scierra TX2 Fly Reel and three spools with
different weights and a box of flies I tied over the winter. Stopped
at the local Masonic lodge for scrambled eggs and rye toast and on the
water by 0515 waiting for the first crack of dawn.

By 0516 decided that maybe I'd better sit in the truck because there
were thunderstorms in the area.

By 0540 decided screw it - it's not like I've never been fly fishing
in a thunder storm before. (Note: The lighting had decreased
dramatically although it was raining like a cow ****ing on a flat
rock).

0545 thunder/lightning over, but still raining. Test cast with a
nymph imitation into a undercut bank, got one hit, fish missed the
fly. Ok, there are fish there. Threw a couple of dry flies, no
takers. Tried a couple of wet flies, no takers. Moved downstream.

0615 still raining like - well, it was still raining. I threw
everything I had into the stream, under logs, under trees, under
stumps, into rips, into pools. Kept moving down stream - saw lots of
fish in the pools, still not taking.

0645 I'm about a half mile down from where I started, still no takers.
One other moron fishing about 100 yards upstream caught what I found
out later was a nice brown. Decided I'd move back up stream and try
under the Route 101 bridge. On my way out, I stopped and asked how he
was doing - two brown trout - decent size.

0700 I cast under the bridge - nice hit - probably a heavy rainbow or
decent size brown.

0703 lost nice heavy rainbow or decent size brown.

0705 - wet, cold and disgusted, walked back to truck and came home.

Oh well, that's why they call it fishing and not catching. :)

This evening is going to be a different story - I'm pulling out "Old
Faithful" and time tested, used and abused flies. :)

Still sounds fine. Is 84 degrees here and clear. Bass waiting 5 minutes
from here in the ponds and I am laid up with an aching lower back. Have not
had the back act up this bad for at least 10 years.

Have you had your MRI yet? Degenerative disk disease gets to us old guys.
I'll probably be getting another damn neck operation to fix the next disk
up the line.

Could you have a similar problem in the lumbar region?
