As I was taking the tree down, I got to the pole stage and this guy
from CL&P (Connecticut Light and Power) drove up - said that one of
his meter readers had been driving by and saw me taking down the tree.
Apparently there is some kind of requirement that when trees are
within 15 feet of a power line, you have to notify CL&P who surveys
the tree and decides if you can take it down or whether is has to be
taken down by them - payed for by me of course.

Speaking of electric- it looks like that house could use an upgrade to the
service. Looks like 100 amps or less feeding two units.

That service entrance is 200 amps and is two years old - upgraded from
100 amp service when I installed new oil burners.

I stand corrected. From the picture it looks as though you have the old
cloth covered service cable clamped to the side of the house.
