I would say previous to '83. My 18' Chris Craft has a 3.0 GM with
Alpha 1

I would say previous to '83. My 18' Chris Craft has a 3.0 GM with
Alpha 1


My 85 had a MR which was everything Alpha but the name in most cases. An A
stamped on the end of the prop shaft was an easy indicator that you had an
Alpha gearset in a MR unit. Parts are ordered by unit serial number not
model year.

hmmm, didn't know that. Thanks!

My 77 23' Marquis have a "MR" and what you said about alpha gears in a
MR unit. I've heard that most MR and Alpha will interchange.
