The vast majority of these FWC warning signs are not on the charts, and they are wood placards on wood pilings, almost no radar signature at all. The whole manatee issue is totally out of control. Anyone in Florida who wants a speed limit for some personal reason can petition for a "manatee" zone to be created. FWC loves it because it makes them feel important and creates more laws to enforce. If you hit a FWC sign at night it is a *serious* safety issue. |

This type of response system provides an efficient notification process for directing personnel to evaluate issues and take appropriate action. In some cases, this may involve passing on reports of non-FWC related waterway problems to another responsible entity such as the United States Coast Guard. IF YOU SEE A DAMAGED FWC SIGN OR BUOY PLEASE REPORT IT! CALL: 1-866-405-BUOY (2869) or email When a damaged sign or buoy is reported by telephone to 1-866-405-BUOY or by email to : FWC will assess the problem. FWC will identify/mark it, if it presents a potential hazard to navigation. FWC will work to fix the problem. Information to have when calling/emailing: Location of damaged marker (GPS coordinates, waterbody name, nearby landmarks, county, nearest city or town, etc.) Brief description of the problem Your name and contact information For more information about this program, please contact: FWC, Boating and Waterways Section Division of Law Enforcement 620 South Meridian Street Tallahassee, Florida 32399-1600 (850) 488-5600 And all this time, I thought Fresh Water Cooling worked all the time, not just on demand. |
