Having spent quite a few years in Roman Catholic schools, I can say that Good Friday was always spent as a 'somber' day. Interestingly, it seems as though the weather has most often followed the somberness of the day, dreary, dark, and overcast. Then, Easter would always be nice and bright and sunny.
