I share enough of it already, the effective tax rate is something like 54% Then you are obviously in the upper middle class range. Due to the regressive nature of SS tax, the highest tax rate is right at the SS cap. After you go over that your tax rate starts to go back down, slowly, but the rate does go down. That is why I think they should eliminate the SS cap - then it would be the first true flat tax. I agree...every damned dollar of income should be subject to SS taxation. Not to mention an additional tax to pay for the war/reconstruction in iraq & elsewhere. Why stick future generations with this expense. We'll just take over your natural resources. You are the 51st state. By the time you're finished over there, you'll be so broke we'll buy you for pennies on the dollar.........that is if the Chinese don't get you first. Let's see...the 11th province..mmmm All we have to do is nationalize the national debt and China's politburo can use our T-notes to wipe their asses. |

Donate more of your money to the government, the will take all that you want to give. Why give em any more when the democratic controlled congress can't seem to properly manage what they've taken so far? |

Even the end, where he seemed to be hoping for a better response from his audience. It was kind of muffled not unlike his speech. I don't think he pleased either side of the issue, supporters or detractors. I expected a lot more substance, I think, and I know I am simple, but I think he is one of the most intellectual candidates we have seen in a long time, even if I think he is too liberal for me. ---------------------------------------------- I had a totally different impression. I didn't see it as a "political" speech at all. It was more a "time out" from politics speech to expose more of what he is, how he thinks and what he believes in. I thought he very effectively got across the feel and image of being black in America and of the remaining distrust that exists among groups with different ethnic backgrounds. I thought he dealt with his nut case pastor's comments with class and dignity. I admire people who are loyal, even when that loyalty may hurt you personally. He didn't give the pastor a free pass ... he condemned his statements ..... but he also pointed out the good the pastor has to offer. I thought it was very well written, delivered and had a strong message. Eisboch His statement that rejecting his pastor is a rejection of the black community implies that the black community feels the same way as his pastor. I don't think that's true, although there are *some* in the black community who use the same language. If I were a black who didn't believe that the USA developed AIDS for black genocide, that we should be saying "God damn America", that we caused 9/11, and the other comments from the pastor, I'd be ****ed at Obama's implication. -- John *H* (Not the other one!) |
