This forum is in its absolute infancy, so early paticipants can help
influence the character of the final format.
There's a scary thought!
:)

Oh, it's not so scary. but some will probably be sniped just by
showing up at the door.

We do have a plethora of snipers here. Maybe not there. The 2-1/2
boating/fishing discussion boards I frequent would not tolerate a
"Reggie" or a "Florida Jim" or a "Bar" or a "DK" or several of the
others who only come here to take cheap shots.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.......
Harry, all you do here is call people childish names.

Chuck has designed a category especially for Harry. My guess is that he
won't take advantage of it.- Hide quoted text -

And anybody else the moderators don't agree with. Remember, there is
at least one monitor there who had offered up identities of posters
who wish to stay anonymous, based on political ideology and a personal
disagreement with it. Thankfully, we can all speak freely here;)

Chuck's "rules" are posted and easily understood, and mostly have to do
with avoiding the nastiness that pervades this usenet group. I suppose
if you can't behave reasonably, you won't like Chuck's Joint.

I give him credit for trying something. He didn't just pick up his football
and go home.
I am too invested in rec.boats, and some of the personalities here to give
it up (particularly the humor), but I'll also try to support his "kinder,
gentle-er" boating forum.

I think I should note that I do really hope it works for him.. I
really do. Still think he should make it one board, until a particular
subject warrants a new catergory. Just from experience on other
similar forums I work on, and with.

I've been lurking over there. Looks interesting.

Don't know how much traffic it will bring, but it's a good try.

I could get some traffic to it for yous' guys. I get a lot of activity
on my site, I could put up a link if you think he is ready to go? I do
trust Chuck to do a good job, even if we don't always see eye to eye?
What do you think, does he have any moderator help yet?

If you and the few others here with an interest in boats supported
Chuck's efforts, there's no reason why you can't bring "the humor" with
you over there and leave the pigs here to wallow in their manure. Hell,
you probably could convince Chuck to set up a discussion subgroup called
Sea Shanties, and talk about your guitar collection there.

It would be an interesting experiment, to see who could, and who could
not, behave reasonably.
