Which is worse, seeing a prostitute or stashing $90,000 worth of bribe
money? The (dis)Honorable William Jefferson ought to be in jail.

Usually, we wait for the indictment, trial, and finding of guilty before
putting people in jail. Well, it used to be that way in this country. No

Probably won't be indicted or tried, assuming he resigns. He hired one of
the prostitutes .... not exactly a high level crime.
He hasn't lied to a grand jury or to the public .... yet.

He's still a despicable person in the eyes of many, including some in his
own political party. Power hungry and ruthless.
The fact that he dragged his wife up to the podium with him, certainly an
embarrassment to her, to admit his wrong doing speaks volumes of his lack of
compassion for anyone but himself.

The current Democrat primary is really fun to watch. You couldn't have
scripted the race or the candidates any better. The problem with Hillary
is that this is her one and only shot at the job and it is slipping away

Yep. She's in her political "prime" so to speak. There won't be another
chance.
She really should consider a long career in the Senate like she originally
claimed she had intentions of before she announced her presidential
candidacy (which, of course, is after she claimed she had no presidential
ambitions). She's a better Senator than she would be a POTUS.

The Senate can withstand a few liars, cheaters, deceitful and dishonest
people, simply due to the numbers.

If this is true, and if he actually hired a escort at $5000 who worked
in New York and traveled to Washington, DC, he violated the Mann Act
otherwise known as the The United States White-Slave Traffic Act of
1910.

Which is a felony.

Now, in my own mind, prostitution isn't necessarily a high level crime
as such. Morally problematic I agree, but a crime? Eh - not so much.

However, in Spitzer's case, he's an arrogant, holier-than-thou prick
who wantonly used criminal penalty threats in civil trials and used
dirt and personal destruction tactics both in the court room and in
politics. He busted high level prostitution rings in largely splashy
self promotions of sanctimonious bull**** and his "highly ethical"
approach to politics. HA!!!

If any politician deserves to hung out to dry, it's him.

What's really interesting about this is if he does resign, which seems
likely given the circumstances, according to most pundits, his Lt.
Governor will have to resign also - can't remember the reason, but
he's not capable of being governor.

Which means that the Speaker of the House is next in line and that's
the guy he tried to destroy in TrooperGate.

Irony is so much fun. :)

What's really interesting about this is if he does resign, which seems
likely given the circumstances, according to most pundits, his Lt.
Governor will have to resign also - can't remember the reason, but
he's not capable of being governor.

He's legally blind although I am not sure that would disqualify him.

I think this came up after the election.

It turns out that if you can't read the document, you can't sign it
for some reason.

I think that's what they said.

Something like that anyway.

My wife would agree to that but, my buddies would run so fast through
the door it would come off of its hinges.

Heh, heh, heh - payback is a bitch.

No
longer, eh?

You have the court of public opinion mixed up with the court of law.

Spitzer all but told us what he did in the hotel with the woman.

The Hokey Pokey? Tube Steak Boogy? Wham, bam, thank you 'Mam? Hide
the Salami? Screwed, blewed and tatooed? 'Round the World in 80
minutes? Making bacon? Beast with Two Backs? The old In, Out, Up,
Down, All 'Round? Schtupp the cat?

Come on - what did he admit to? :)

"Inappropriate conduct."
That's all you'll get out of him.
Now, if she talks, different story.
Like Dick Morris's girls.
Every time I see Dick Morris, I see him munching whore toe.

The Republican state party and a leading Republican legislator called for
the governor to step down. James Tedisco, a Republican Assemblyman from
Schenectady who has clashed loudly and publicly with Mr. Spitzer, called on
the governor to step down if the allegations are true

Funny I don't recall the same level of outrage at Jeff Gannon having sleep
overs in the Whitehouse, or Mark Foley, Larry Craig, and Bob Allen
soliciting other men - but because this time it is a *democrat and a FEMALE,
the republicans are out for blood......

Hypocrisy ****es people off, as it should. Remember, Spitzer was busting
prostitution rings as Attorney General. If he hadn't been so
sanctimonious, it might have blown over.

I agree, hypocrisy is the thing and Spitzer is a sleaze and a hypocrite!

But, Mark Foley and Larry Craig were part of the religious right trying
to
ban homosexuality - then they turn around and solicit other men - one a
minor! It's the
hypocrisy!!!! But as I said the republicans were rather quite about
republican congressmen and senators with men. It leads to the assumption
that the reason they are screaming for blood now, is because Spitzer had
sex with a woman.

I think we should allow the facts to come out. Apparently there is more to
this than simply hiring a call girl.

I think we should eliminate all laws that attempt to regulate sex
between consenting adults. That would include the Mann Act, and all laws
that criminalize prostitution.

This doesn't take away from the stupidity of what Spitzer did and how he
did it, but I don't give a damn who he slept with and how much he paid
for it, unless public money was involved.
