The article states that the guy that got mauled was a lawyer. I didn't
think that sharks would attack lawyers our of professional courtesy.

If folks signing up for this adventure sign a release that says, "I
know swimming with baited sharks is a very risky activity, one in
which I could be injured or killed, but I want to do it anyway..."

At what point does the diver, mountain climber, skydiver, hang glider,
etc accept personal responsibility for the risks of his or her chosen
pastime? Should the legal system "nanny" everybody all the time?

Only if the dive operator claimed that the activity was entirely safe
and that normal reasonable people should undertake it, (rather than,
as the website notes, those looking for an extreme experience) would
he be at serious risk for criminal or maybe even successful civil
prosecution. IMO.

Let me get this straight. This guy, an experianced diver, goes out on
a shark diving trip, knowing fully well sharks can be dangerous. He
see's the operators baiting the water to attract sharks, which any
diver knows can make sharks aggressive, he climbs into the water on
his own with the sharks (no one apparently threw him in, no one made
him get into the water). And you don't think he was responsible for
his own actions. That the captian is somehow guilty of manslaughter.
You can't possibly be serious.

I can possibly be serious, in fact I am... It's called an opinion,
don't like it, so what. I think this whole shark feeding and diving is
driven by money, and no brains... Hope the sharks win more of these,
maybe people will smarten up and stop giving their money to lazy
assholes like him (the captain)...
