So.. What contributions have you made here about boating to steer things in a
direction you prefer?

Seems like if you make a contribution, the jackals start a feeding frenzy.

As long as your boating post doesn't trash Hillary or Obama, you should be
OK. Oh, don't talk about abortion, religion, or the pledge of allegiance
either!

Unfortunately we have some folks here with only the following on their mind:
http://tinyurl.com/yulpqw

So what type of boat do you own and where do you boat? Welcome aboard.

An oldie but goodie 36-foot Tiara, twin diesels, out of the LA area.

Some of the most prolific posters to this group have very little
interest in boating. There are personal vendettas here that go back
ten years and more, and many of the people who participate most
frequently in that nonsense don't even make a pretense of having an
interest in boating.

A couple of the worst offenders post their crap to dozens of groups
and list rec.boats as one of a multitude of groups tp which their
political extremism and obnoxious personal remarks are addressed.
These trolls then attract equally disturbed responses from other self-
centered crazies, and the group fills up with posts and threads that
are negative and OT.

Then there are the few who are so self centered that they feel their
personal local weather grants them license to post off topic during
the winter months. After all, if the water is frozen over in East
Bugtussle then there's no possible reason that anybody from any other
geographic region would have the least amount of interest in
discussing a boating related topic, right?

It gets pretty discouraging, but it's just people using the anonymity
found on the internet to behave like boorish little kids and get away
with it. This format brings out the worst in many people, sad to say.

thinly vieled digs and political opinoins...

will bring.

You'll find that JimH is in a league of his own. He tries (much like
Harry) to act like he's above everyone else. But, (like Harry) if you
call bull**** on any of his lies, he'll start childish name calling,
telling lies about you, insulting and telling lies about your children
and wife, etc. He's done it before, he'll do it again. He's got some
strange ego problems, and he uses his children to bolster that sagging
ego.

You're an odd little guy. You seem to have bad things to write about a
bunch of posters.

A 36 foot Tiara......very nice!

It's a pretty decent boat. I bought her at a customs auction and spent a
few bucks fixing her up. Looks better than new now at least to me. I
just put in a new sink-refrigerator-bait freezer unit on deck and
replaced a little rotted out baltek under the fiberglass under the
anchor windlass. So far that is the only soft spot of baltek and
probably cause when the windlass was put on theholes were not epoxied on
the edges.
