TV off...bad storms...So, who won what last night?

I went and voted, came home ate some supper and waited for the storms
to come though. He got some pretty stiff winds last night and a lot of
old shedcs got blown over. Good way to clean up the town. I myself
didn't get any damage but plenty did. But nothing of any real threat.
Satalite TV went out. And I really didn't feel like listening to any
eleciton results anyhow. too long and drawn out. Daughter is mome,
sick with mono. and so she and I watched videos till I hit the sack at
about 9:30. This morning, while getting ready for work I turned on the
TV and reception was good, but I scanned Fox, CNN, and about everyone
else and gave that up too. Too many commercials and talking heads.
Never found out anything conclusive.

so, besides not much, what did I miss?

Maybe that was the ticket. Between Al Sharpton, and the Alien
Invasion, I did sleep pretty easy.

Not much.

With McCain all but sewing up the R nomination, the conservatives will
likely begin a third party campaign. Given a choice between two of
the three moderates left standing, one R and two D's, much of the far
right will pull the handle for "none of the above" and extremism on
either side of the spectrum is difficult to silence.

Should that occur, it would normally hand the election to the D's. I
suspect that anybody launching a third party candidate this year will
be smart enough to fund a fourth as well to split the vote for the
other side.
(In 2004, Nader's petition drive for access to state ballots as well
as no small amount of his actual campaign expenses were funded by a
consultant to the GOP. When questioned about this, Nader didn't even
bother denying it, simply responding "I don't care where the money
comes from". Only thing Nader ever did to act like a real politician.)

So stay tuned, you didn't miss a thing. It's a long, long way from
over.
I'd suggest they get some decent security around Obama from here on
out, but then again I clearly remember a similarly idealistic "threat"
being extinguished in June of 1968.

You think that wind storm last night was something? Just wait for the
stormy conclusion to this year's campaign. It's going to get u,g,l,y.

The far righties on one of the firearms-related boards I read are
awaiting the End of Days. Their posts read as if they came from the lips
of Limbaugh or Coulter. Their guess is that the GOP nominees will be
McCain and Huckabee (their nightmare GOP ticket), and that the best hope
is to split off entirely and finally from the GOP and form a third party.

Nothing politically would please me more, but I doubt that will happen.
Most of the Repugs will hold their noses and vote for McCain.

I listened to Rush LImbaugh for about an hour today. The callers that
got past his screeners were saying things like "There's no
conservative choice in this election!" Nearly all were at least
mildly, if not adamantly opposed to McCain. Limbaugh was blasting
McCain for "giving away the store to the Deomocrats!"

One of the callers suggested that Rush run as a third party candidate.
Never happen, but it's amusing to contemplate from 100 different

Those callers who said they would relucantly vote McCain were
typically quick to clarify "but it won't be a vote for McCain, it will

Why are you so against the Chinese, John? Do you realize they are
bailing out the Bush fiasco as we speak? We are borrowing money from
them at an amazing rate.

There are going to be years of lawsuits and books to release info being
kept secret by the Bushcrappers. Most of the info has to do with
politics, not national security, and some of it will see the light of
day. When it does, it will only further diminish Bush's low standing
among presidents.

I can imagine a history book 50 years from now that describes how Bush
started a war for personal political reasons that ended up killing
hundreds of thousands of people.

There ought to be payback on Bush and Cheney for what they have done to
this country and the world, but, of course, there won't be.

Either Hillary or Barack in the White House suits me just fine.
You like nightmares??

are

When you do, come back and explain how you did it.
No, you'll have to figure that out on your own.

I have a system of sorts. I know every president since Carter has
been on
their knees, blowing the Saudi royal family, which is what got us
into the
**** we're in lately. That eliminates Hillary. Guilt through
association.
Romney never stops smiling. Give that asshole a pair of tacky white
shoes
and he could be selling used cars all day long. He's off the list.
Huckabee
is a disgrace even to some evangelicals. He's off the list. That
leaves
McCain & Obama. Maybe...just maybe they haven't been fondled by the
Saudis,
and in the moment of sanity, they'll do the right thing with that
country.

What would you have them do, oh bright one? Sell oil only to the

Damn that is so simple, I wonder why no one else has thought about it.
If only you and Harry would go to Washington we wouldn't have all of
these problems.

Why would the president who classified the information want to declassify
it, especially since it probably would prove embarrassing not only to
him, but also to his father?

There are going to be years of lawsuits and books to release info being
kept secret by the Bushcrappers. Most of the info has to do with politics,
not national security, and some of it will see the light of day. When it
does, it will only further diminish Bush's low standing among presidents.

I can imagine a history book 50 years from now that describes how Bush
started a war for personal political reasons that ended up killing
hundreds of thousands of people.

There ought to be payback on Bush and Cheney for what they have done to
this country and the world, but, of course, there won't be.

You day "hundreds of thousands of people".

I think to be fair, on the Iraqi side you have to take into account how many
Saddam may have been responsible for if left unchecked. He didn't have an
exemplary track record.

As of the coalition side, a terrible loss.

There is no need to speculate over how many might be dead if Saddam were
still in power. What's the point of that? The point is, Bush's actions
resulted in the deaths of up to hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and for
what? For Bush's personal political reasons.

worded that sentence it doesn't matter what number you use, it is still
a true statement.

Who cares, as long as we're bringing democracy to the Middle East, right?

have been held or announced."

Harry,
I find it easier to address my comments directly to you, instead of
pretending to have you filtered, and then making snide personal insults.
I love to make a comment and then wait to see how you handle it when
no one quotes my comment in a response. You still responding to my
post, sometimes by starting a new post that address the issue I raised.
No one really believes you use a filter anymore than you own a lobster
boat or are married to a Dr. Dr., so why bother.
