Noticed this:

"Through this agreement, users of Qtrax will be able to access songs from
the SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT catalog of recordings for a predefined
number of times. Each time a consumer plays a track, the Qtrax player will
also offer fans click-to-buy purchase options."

This seems reasonable, not unlike being able to listen to songs on albums
prior to purchase at many music stores.
It suggests, however, that the music cannot be downloaded permanently to
your computer, but rather accessed through the Qtrax software exclusively.

Also noticed that the beta software download indicates, "Available at
Midnight, EST!" but gives no date. The download link is inactive.
Another note says that a Mac version will be available in March.

Ten cents a song is all this stuff is worth, and with no DRM.

Proposed on another boad:

"Call me a glass half empty guy, but I see plenty of downside with the
forced ads and tracking and "encouraged docking." I have no plans to
download their software. YMMV. ...."

hmmm, might take home more than what you bargianed for?
