I wouldn't either, but if you want to pay for my ticket, I will come along. This is what bothers me. If you have the money, you are healthy enough to do it, why not? It's the first step to the stars - revel in it. I'm going to do it - I'm telling you, I'm going to go. At $200k probably not, at $100k very likely. For that kind of throw-away money, I can think of a bunch more earthly pleasures on which to indulge myself. I have a wife I love and loves me, so do not have to pay for call girls. |

After a long career requiring flying to customer sites across the US, and with a couple of business International flights to Zurich and London, the last thing I want to do is get on a friggin plane............no matter where it is heading. Hmmmmm..........how much boat will $200k buy? Hummmm.. say a 26 foot mahogany inboard cruiser, something old school, lots of brightwork, lots of shiny stuff. Why, you got 200 grand to spend, I am itchin' to build a boat or two? |

Hmmmmm..........how much boat will $200k buy? I still get on planes and use to fly lots for business. Business class when traveling overseas eased some of the pain. But since wife and I dislike cruise ships, to get to far away places, airplanes are good. Last year best flight was even in a small plane without much room. AT-6. |

For $200k, he would most likely not use stitch and glue. More likely screw and glue. |

The real point is to go - to see - to experience - the essence of seeing something that very few people have gotten to see first hand. It's the first step to moving beyond this planet and moving to others. If I can be a part of that - a part of the inevitable move to other worlds - moving beyond our planet to others, then I'm going to do it. And I don't give a damn what anybody else thinks. /soapbox |

"IF" I had the extra funds around, I'd do it in a second. I have a nephew who is an mechanic at NASA, working hands-on with the shuttles in the programm. I've been buggin him ever since he started to see about getting me invited for a ride. Realistically I know it will never happen, but I can dream can't I? ROTFL!!! I have a son who is a fighter jock and I never asked him for a ride. On my 50th birthday, he shows up at the door, escorts me out, we get in a plane, fly down to Cherry Point MAS and I get a ride in a F-18. Had a blast. :) I figure if I could handle that ride - which was pretty wild - I can handle a sub-orbital flight with no problems. :) I want to register a compliant. My uncle was on the acquisition team for the F/A-18 for the Marine Corps and commanded the first group of F/A-18's for the Marine Corps. Prick never gave me a ride in an F/A-18. |

For a few seconds of weightlessness, one could go to King's Dominion. Hell, I'd rather give the $200,000 to the local children's hospital. -- Mackerel Snapper |
