Tom if you're going to do this, then I wish you well. Be sure to take
a few insta-matics. Do you have plenty of flash cubes? hk wrote: Short Wave Sportfishing wrote: On Thu, 24 Jan 2008 04:08:16 -0800 (PST), Tim wrote: "Would you pay $200,000... " Errr. No. Of course you wouldn't. Me, either. Of course, I wouldn't pay $100 for an eTEC outboard motor, either. :-) |

This is what bothers me. If you have the money, you are healthy enough to do it, why not? It's the first step to the stars - revel in it. I'm going to do it - I'm telling you, I'm going to go. I'm with you and behind the concept 100%. "IF" I had the extra funds around, I'd do it in a second. I have a nephew who is an mechanic at NASA, working hands-on with the shuttles in the programm. I've been buggin him ever since he started to see about getting me invited for a ride. Realistically I know it will never happen, but I can dream can't I? |

Wouldn't it be nice if you could stream real time video from there to us so we can tag along on a virtual adventure. All the fun without the expense..... reminds me of my crewing days. |

Realistically I know it will never happen, but I can dream can't I? ROTFL!!! I have a son who is a fighter jock and I never asked him for a ride. On my 50th birthday, he shows up at the door, escorts me out, we get in a plane, fly down to Cherry Point MAS and I get a ride in a F-18. Had a blast. :) I figure if I could handle that ride - which was pretty wild - I can handle a sub-orbital flight with no problems. :) |

I think the experience itself will be less fabulous than many people imagine. IMO, this is an extremely high altitude airplane, and certainly not the space shuttle. The $200,000 aside----- I wouldn't go unless there is adequate leg room and they serve something besides peanuts and pretzels for lunch. If I had to pay $5 for a beer (and if the head is dripping with fecal matter, urine, and disinfectant), I would be very unhappy indeed. Wait, if you health permits. 2-3 years into this thing and you can probably fly for $20k instead of $200k. But who would want to? |

In order: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, Alan Shepard, Ed Mitchell, Dave Scott, Jim Irwin, Jack Young, Charles Duke, Gene Cernan and Harry Schmitt. Would you also like the names of all former and current astronauts who have made space flights? :) Some people who go initially will appear to do so just to prove they had the means to do so. Yaaaaaawn. Which differs from other explorations how exactly? The New World wasn't exactly discoverd and explored by those who didn't have the means. I think the experience itself will be less fabulous than many people imagine. IMO, this is an extremely high altitude airplane, and certainly not the space shuttle. It's not meant to be - it's meant to demonstrate the viability of space flight for everyone. Today - sub-orbital. Tomorrow, space colonies.
