The answer to this sort of horror lies with Microsoft. It simply is not doing the job it ought to be doing with these operating systems. Harry Krause is obviously in your head causing you to obsess about him 24x7. Dark Side of the Moon? JimH, If you had checked with me before you purchased your laptop............ That would be the last thing I would think of doing. As I have stated from the getgo....... the laptop is not mine but my son's and he has not experienced any problems with it. Am I also now in your head? Dark Side of the Moon. As I said, a laptop running WinXP will run twice as fast as the same laptop running Vista. I have no problems if that is what you like, but don't fool yourself into thinking you don't take a big hit when you use Vista. sigh JimH, do you do a lot of slouching, eye-rolling, and display other symptoms of exasperation along with your heavy sighing? Do you have a new PC? Did you do an upgrade? If you have tried updates and still have problems with Vista crashing, sometimes it is better to do a clean install and start over. You will spend less time in the long run by doing this. Yes, it's a pain in the A$$, but it just might be the lesser of two evils. Not what you want to hear but sometimes it is all you can do. My tirade got the attention I knew it would from MS. This was a "beta" upgrade to VISTA and apparently I was getting an error code no one else was. The only downside was that the beta upgrade would not install. Got a nice email today, telling me not to worry about it because after sending in some files to MS and some logs, the "team" had figured out the problem and that it would be "fixed." You said that your machine is new. If it's within a few months, maybe they will take it back. I guess there is no easy answer when something doesn't work as advertised. Very frustrating indeed. Maybe there is a way you can get the company to exchange Vista and use XP. Just a suggestion. I wish I had a dollar for every time my PC crashed. I need to use Microsoft products because I do software development and that pays the bills. |
