Arrgh...snow and rain. No Virginia Beach fishing trip this week.

Anyway, got a photo of another West Coast Parker with a tuna tower. Don't
see many of these tower-equipped small boats in these here parts.

Guy who runs her has an Airmar B-260 transducer, an 80-gallon bait tank,
and goes out 75 miles for albacore fishing.

Bit more to his tower than I usually see, and look at that pole-mounted
radar.

Twin 150s on the stern.

Just look at that transom.............you're gonna freak out half the
girliemen on this newsgroup.....

Only the pussyboaters! Gosh, it's the same transom as on my Parker,
just a bit wider.

Owner of the boat probably has more money in that Airmar transducer than
some of the pseudoboaters here have in their entire boats, those who
actually have boats.

There's a 28-foot Parker out there on the left coast with a tower, too,
but if memory serves it is a "standup" only tower, with controls but no

Ahh...it's the mighty Lake Lanier nosepicker! Indeed, the Bay waters are
fairly protected, but even so are a bit more dangerous than your Dry

Harry,
His point, which obviously went way over your head, is that you don't
boat anywhere but a little creek and a calm bay. As you said numerous
times, you only go out when the weather is perfect.

Why do you like to pretend that you are a blue water boater or that you
even boat in the ocean.

It is a little huge for a thru-hull on that size of boat, but I
suspect that would be one of the preferred models.

The owner built up some sort of nacelle on the inside of the hull and
the B260 protrudes, but I've not seen a photo of the install. I suspect
with all the money he's spent on the boat, he doesn't count $100 bills
closely.

The back 1/3rd of the Parker 25-footers don't come out of the water
much, even on plane. Or at all. Even.

Guy who runs her has an Airmar B-260 transducer, an 80-gallon bait tank,
and goes out 75 miles for albacore fishing.

I'd be curious where he has that transducer mounted on that boat.

It is a little huge for a thru-hull on that size of boat, but I
suspect that would be one of the preferred models.

They make two fairings for that model - standard and high performance.
The High Performance fairing is the preferred fairing for boats under
26' in length according to marine electronics types. Apparently you
get more water flow past the transducer on planing hulls with it.

Finding good water at plane, though? Location location, location.....

Well, that's really the question - where would you put it?

It's probably at or near the stern I would think. I believe that is
an older 2520 XL Sport Cabin as Parker, finally, got wise to the open
transom and starting building boats properly with full transoms.

Even with the more moderate 16 degree deadrise, it's got to be hard to
position properly.

The owner built up some sort of nacelle on the inside of the hull and
the B260 protrudes, but I've not seen a photo of the install. I suspect
with all the money he's spent on the boat, he doesn't count $100 bills
closely.

:-) The "crock" continues. Parker makes at least six models with
transom cutouts. Beginning last year, I believe, the cutout transoms
were dropped temporarily on the 25-footers. Parker does that from time
to time. After the 2120 Pilot House was introduced (with the cutout
transom), it stopped producing the 2100CC for a couple of years until
production of the 2120 began to catch up with demand. The two boats use
the same hull.

But no real stripes, metalflake paint, tailfins, or carpet on the
walking surfaces. No matching trailers, either. And most importantly, no
eTecs. :-)

Mine? No.

I have the smaller, much less expensive bronze "tilt" transducer. It
barely protrudes from the bottom of the hull. I've never measured the
distance, but mine is about 2' forward of the transom. I didn't have a
through hull on my 25' Parker. Had two transom mount transducers for the
two fishfinders.

Practical use above aesthetics. Decorative elements on fishing boats -
metalflake, strange colors, fins, carpeting on decks, low-quality
eTec outboards - are superfluous. :-)

Well, if you've been somewhere, D'whine, it must be bullsh*t, or at
least covered in it, eh?

It's about 220 miles from my house to the OBX, D'wine. About a six hour
drive pulling my tandem trailer, including food and rest stops. Or three
days on your creaky old floating RV, if the weather sucks.

We have had 3 wonderful vacations on the Outer Banks, most recently in a 3
level, 5 bedroom house on the ocean with my sisters family. The house had a
pool, hot tub and game room.

Mornings were spent with a cup of coffee watching the dolphins swimming
parallel to the beach.

Nice place, but a bit expensive.

Yeah, we rent a house with another couple. No need for that many
bedrooms, though. There's lots of stuff to do there, some boat-related,
some not. It's a pretty easy drive from here. South Florida is too
damned hot for summertime fun.

would just rent one when you got there.

The beauty of it is I don't have to drive the distance. Guy we share a
house with has a big GM diesel pickup and knows how to pull a trailer
safely. I get to copilot or snooze half the way. Virginia Beach is as
far as I will trailer a boat from here.

Someday if I have nothing to do...nah...I still wouldn't want to live on
a boat.
