Huge Waves Off California Coast
"Wayne.B" wrote in message ... Low transom boaters bewa http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/01/09/sports/SURF.php They can keep that stuff on the west coast. The survey and sea trial has now been scheduled for Friday of this week on the Navigator. The broker is just itching to get his commission, so they don't want to wait until spring. Friday is supposed to have heavy rain which is no big deal, so we may as well get this over with. The weather has been warm, the ice has melted so what the hell. Actually, to be fair, we should try to get it done just in case there is an issue that changes the buyer's mind and he needs to shop for something else. Last time I went boating in January was in Florida. :-( Eisboch |

Turns out he either couldn't get financing or find a slip or something. Anyway, the day he went through the boat for the second time, and with his wife and daughter for the first, my slip neighbor fired up the engines in his older Post, right beside us. DD 6-71's have a very distinctive and, on some boats, very *loud* exhaust note. Nobody on or near the Navigator could hear themselves think, let alone carry on a conversation. I had to demo the Navigator engine sound to erase the look of terror on his wife's face. Eisboch |

Huge Waves Off California Coast
"Wayne.B" wrote in message ... Low transom boaters bewa http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/01/09/sports/SURF.php High winds! Talked to my buddy today. He had a houseboat at New Melones Lake. Was a nice boat until Saturday. Something happened and either the buoys got tangled or one broke loose and prevented his boat from swinging with the wind. The wind hit it from the side and flipped the boat. This is a 60' house boat. The house broke off the pontoons and the toons ended up flipping. Took a crane to recover the boat. The local ranger gets his sign. AS they are bringing the remains ashore, he says you can not do that. You do not have a permit to remove the boat. A permit is required everytime you remove or return the houseboat to the water. At least his superior told him, forget it. Is an emergency and the paperwork would be taken care of later. Now to see how much State Farm pays off. |

I spent a week at New Melones last summer... beautiful lake. That sucks about your friends boat. I probably saw it, but there were a lot of them. --Mike "Calif Bill" wrote in message ... My in-laws have a place there, right on the edge of town. Trees fell on homes and cars everywhere. Going in to my mom's there was a tree across 2 cars in the shopping center by the freeway leaving town, and they had the cross street by mom's blocked off and you could hear the chainsaws running. Mom's survived the winds, but had a major leak in the dining room. Took out some of the plaster. Was bad install of a gutter a couple years ago when they did the roof. Has been wooden gutters and they put a metal one in and ran it into the stucco where the wooden one had ended with a wooden plug at the end. They just put some tar sealer over the end cap. My brother and I cut off part of the gutter today and stucco filled the hole. Is a 1908 Georgian. So we get a lot of experience on this old house. |
