Posting to people you have "killfilled" makes you a bigger narcissistic
asshole, Harry.

Ahhh, but his name is different in that post, so he'll say he posted it from
another machine that doesn't have the same filters... there's always a
loophole of convenience with Hairy.

Network Access Protection compatibility. Announced years ago, this
feature allows Windows XP machines to interact with the NAP feature in
Windows Server 2008. This functionality is built into the RTM version
of
Windows Vista as well.
Product Key-less install option. As with Windows Vista, new XP with
SP3
installs can proceed without entering a product key during Setup.
Kernel Mode Cryptographics Module. A new kernel module that
"encapsulates several different cryptographic algorithms," according
to
Microsoft.
"Black hole" router detection algorithm. XP gains the ability to
ignore
network routers that incorrectly drop certain kinds of network
packets.
This, too, is a feature of Windows Vista.
Most of what else is in the SP was already downloadable as individual
upgrades from good old MS.
Cheers.
Since a RC is really just another name for Beta, why would someone want
to install this?- Hide quoted text -

He don't know, it's a cut and paste job.

At Microsoft and elsewhere, a release candidate typically is software
that has been through several "beta" stages, and is offered up for
testing by recipients more general than those in the beta program for it.

MS and others who put out RCs are hoping for wide distribution on many
different machines to see how the update or new product performs in the
real world.

I'm downloading it now on my laptop. It's a real slow process right now,
and I suspect the MS server on which it is located is getting a ton of
hits. Right now it is creating cabinets.

I enjoy the intellectual challenges of messing with new software. I
certainly can understand why some people don't. Or can't.

Harry enjoys the attention and we wouldn't want to stop feeding him.

I wish Jimh wouldn't be so selective. There are very few in the group who
haven't had a derogatory comment or two for Harry in the past couple weeks.
Harry seems to thrive on the attention, and makes one stupid comment after
another. I don't think Harry minds being the butt of the jokes, or being
thought of as one who tends to 'embellish his stories' shall we say. Of
course, Jimh is also one who embellishes the hell out of stories.

So perhaps Jimh should just list the group members, except for Don and
himself of course. They're both too busy trying to put down others.
