I download MP4s from Russia (with Love), and any movies I might want are available from various sites in *.RAR file format. Same with MP3's. The problem with usenet music binaries is that you never really know what the hell you are getting, quality-wise. MP3, MP4, JPEG, etc compress very little using any compression technique. That applies to YENC, RAR, TAR, ZIP, etc. So unless you use the various compressors to break a large file into parts (multi-part files), there is no good reason to use one. I agree. I think "multi-part files" are a pain in the ass. |
