Costa Rica is becoming an increasingly popular place for U.S. retirees.
The cost of living there is very very low, until you buy imported
manufactured goods, and in most areas, the country is peaceful. Costa Rica
has no standing army and has no real enemies in the world. Nice climate,
too.


And a political system styled after the US, complete with rampant
corruption.

I also have friends that have retired there. It's nice, climate wise, but
not paradise.
