Forget to mention, one roasting in the oven and one going in the fryer in two hours. Enjoy, whichever way you like it. Did your house burn down yet? ;-) I really don't think it's funny. If you watch what you're doing there isn't any problem. I've done many foods in the fryer and never had a problem. I'm still trying to figure out why if you have a standard oven or two in your kitchen, you would want to deep fry a turkey.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - It's all about taste. Think of chicken. Does a piece of fried chicken taste like the same piece oven baked? Deep fried turkey is very good. It's super moist, frying intensifies flavors, etc. When I first fried a turkey, I was amazed at how different it was from oven done turkey. I still do oven birds, but sometimes I do fried, and sometimes I smoke them on my offset smoker. I can still do all of the traditional sides, because I buy turkey wings, oven bake some of them for gravy complete with giblets and deglazed bits from the wing pan, plus the giblets and neck broth is used in the stuffing. I have actually stuffed a smoked bird with good results, I just too off the crusty too smoky part of the stuffing. In short, don't knock something you haven't tried. |
