I was a little disappointed though - I kept waiting for the Irish Lyre player to start pickin'. :) You have to search around, but there is some good amateur stuff also. I can play a banjo, but I can't "play" a banjo if you get my point. I'm grok guitar and mandolin - I just don't "grok" banjos. Could never play a violin either although I desperatly wanted to lean how to "fiddle". Next is slide quitar this winter. I've owned one for years and tinkered with it, but never really worked hard at it. Now that playing a standard guitar is becoming more and more difficult, slide maybe the way I can keep playing. |

If you can play mandolin, you are halfway to playing the violin, which is "basically" a fretless mandolin. Fingering is identical. Um...no. Um, yes. All the notes are in the same places. Whatever. |

A mandolin is essentially a fretted violin with doubled strings to fatten the sound and add volume. Ever notice that virtually all bluegrass fiddlers double on mandolin? Theres a really good reason for that. vi-olin mand-olin get it? Lan-olin? |

Early every morning youre out on the street Passing out pamphlets to everyone you meet. You gave up your maiden form for lent And now the front of your dress has an air scoop vent. Mean-hearted harpies are breaking all the laws Tearing up their girdles and a-burning up their bras, Now the air is dirty and the sex is clean And your coffee makes my hair turn green. So damn emancipated in your mind and your body, Gonna have to cancel all your lessons in karate. If you cant love a male chauvinist Youd better cross me off your shopping list.
