"Short Wave Sportfishing" wrote in message ... Just watching the bouy data - man, it looks a little steep out your way. http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/buoy/44008.html I am very happy where I am. Bunch of other nuts down here as well as me, all riding out the storm on their boats. Yesterday I doubled up the lines, helped a couple of other people move their boats from the front to the more protected back basin and secured the cockpit furniture. It's just started raining and the wind is picking up. I am sure we'll lose power at some point and will have to fire up the genset. Amazingly, the satellite dish is still locked on. Eisboch |

My hunch is that if being on the water is your thing, you are getting a bigger bang for the buck with the big boats. Eisboch |

Our retirement model that we finally agreed on was to have a house in the south and a boat north to live on in the summer. We also considered having a home north but given the relatively short summer season in the northeast, and the fact that we also wanted to cruise the Bahamas and points south, a boat made more sense. If operating costs get too high we could always leave the boat north for the winter but I'd hate to do that. The trip is always an adventure and it's nice having the boat docked behind the house ready to go anytime we are. |

Hey Eisboch....
Waves now at 15.4 feet and building till midnight when the center of the storm should pass. I was outside and saw a number of flashes so I'd better power down the computer and ride out the storm. Had to rush out to 'The Binnacle' this afternoon to get a manual bilge pump as a backup for my basement sump pump. I had let my two pumps go with the Sandpiper 565 when I sold it in August. Tom might be pleased to know that the pump was manufactured in Bridgeport CT |
