Simulators? Nothing beats "hands on" experience

Guy I know is an SF Bay Pilot. He goes to (I think it is) Scandinavia for a
couple week simulator and miniature boat driving course every couple of
years.

I saw a documentary on that facility - it's pretty amazing.

They have these scale model boats that are used to simulate the
handling characteriistics of full scale ships.

Pretty cool.
