I saw not one person on the Disney Magic take a picture of the Carnival ship. My wife and I went to that part of Mexico for our honeymoon. We landed in Cancun, spent a day there, and then took the ferry ride to Cozumel, where we stayed for two days. Rented scooters. Last season, some tourists were killed in Cozumel. Hoodlums chased them down, got them off their scooters, robbed them and then killed them. Scary. Anyway, after Cozumel, we went to Tulum, and then to Chichen Itza. Great trip. We spent another day in Cancun upon our return. I wouldn't recommend Cancun to anyone these days. Chichen Itza is fantastic. I spent a week in Merida. |

Now I've gone twice in two years, and am planning to go again in two years! I was thinking, while on this cruise, that cruise ships would be a great target for the GW fanatics. Those things use a lot of resources, and provide nothing, other than fun, for mankind. So, you ought to take advantage of them before they get on someone's hit list. I actually asked my wife if she would like to take a cruise to Alaska. She liked the idea originally, then decided she would prefer to take more shorter vacations than a 2 week cruise. Haven't had a cold in at least 20 years. I've heard, and passed around the "fact" that there's about 40 common cold viruses, so at about age 40 you stop getting colds. Went to see the grandkids Saturday, not worrying about my son's warning that they had colds. I should be immune Just got up after 16 hours in bed. Worse cold I can remember. Throat still hurts like hell, and still all stuffed up. I need to rethink this. Never heard that theory, but according to the following link, there are over 105 virus types that cause cold symptoms. If your theory is correct, you still have a couple of years to go. ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinovirus |

It does say: "Children may have six to ten colds a year (and up to 12 colds a year for school children)." I probably got the 40 years of age confused with number of common virii. 20 years without a cold has be believing the age part. Now I'm wondering if what I have now is a cold I never had before, or that my immunity to an old cold is now gone. Hope it's the former. I'd hate to start re-doing all those colds. --Vic |

Hey - do your thing - I have no problem with it. If you want to walk around a floating infection factory where they have to hand out disinfectant wipes to keep their clients healthy - have at it man. Good idea. Brilliant in fact - should make everybody feel much safer health wise. The base fact that disinfectant wipes are meaningless in the long run shouldn't enter into it at all. Remember - disinfecting doesn't kill virus vectors - only bleach or similar solutions kill virus vectors. I'm not going to do it for stated reasons. The last infection I had took three months to get rid of and I had to use a walker to move around the house. And that was from a brand new pool at the health club I belong to. Be my guest, but I'll take a pass. They hand out hand disinfectants? Are you serious? Is everyone also wearing a mask over their nose and mouth? You'd like our house. My wife is loose with the bleach. My wife gave me grief about overuse of bleach in the bathroom. I countered by reminding her that she arbitrairly assigning me to the task of keeping it clean...so I'd decide how. Wish I could spray full strength bleach in this newsgroup... especially since a certain troublemaker has returned from a cruise bringing new virises with him. What do you spray on sycophants to remove them? |

Be my guest, but I'll take a pass. You have a special problem. If I were in your shoes, I'd be leery of anything public, planes, ships, stores, whatever. I'd sure not use the potty at any public facility. The Disney ships have not yet been involved in one of the mass infections which have plagued other cruise lines. I am not trying to get you to go on a Disney, or any other, ship. It's a matter of time. There should be a law that all hospitals should be burned to the ground after 15 years to remove all of the viruses and bacteria. |

Well, there are far better places to have boating discussions than rec.boats. We have far too many posters here whose interest is not boats. Harry, I would recommend you go to those other places and leave this NG to it's own demise. As I have told you before, I don't give a rat's ass about your recommendations. When the Disney Magic docked, dozens of people on the Carnival ship got their cameras to take pictures of the Disney Magic. Wonderful.
