I mean, if you decided to try your hand at making sourdough bread, and your wife said "Don't forget the time you tried plumbing and flooded the basement", you'd probably wonder how her mind made that leap. Yep, and congrats to him for his award and commitment, regardless of whether global warming is indeed, man induced. It's ironic that had he been declared the victor in 2000, it is unlikely he would receiving a Nobel prize today. Eisboch Most republicans think that global warming isn't happening in any way, man made or otherwise. Imagine how awful they must feel realizing that someone won the Nobel prize for something they believe to be fictitous. This is the citation of the Nobel Committee: "Indications of changes in the earth's future climate must be treated with the utmost seriousness, and with the precautionary principle uppermost in our minds. Extensive climate changes may alter and threaten the living conditions of much of mankind. They may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states." It's a pretty reasonable statement, as long as "precautionary principle" is carefully considered, which of course nobody agrees on. The other extreme's probably a lousy idea: Don't look, don't think about it, don't talk about it. This is the intent of the Nobel Peace Prize as stated in Albert Nobel's will establishing the Nobel Peace Prize. "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses". There doesn't seem to be a lot of "precautionary principle" in that statement for subjective climate change theory movies. :) Thus, for saving the world from the domination of Omicron Persei VIII, I gladly claim the prize because it may (or may not) happen. The precautionary principle is that I may (or may not) save the world from alien invasion fits perfectly. Gimme my money. Would you like that in Euros or Green Backs? :-) |

In Marxist theory, communism is a system of organization based on the holding of all property in common with actual actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state. Socialism is the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles according to Marx. Close, but no. I thought we established this was Rush. It sure sounds like someone who understands what "free" broadcasting is all about. This is a guy who made millions "giving his show away for free". The same is true of "free" TV and "free" internet services like Yahoo and Google. You pay every time you buy something they advertise there in higher prices. Of course Google et al is also a serious threat to your privacy. If you are "logged in" or accept cookies your inbox is certain to be stuffed with spam based on everything you ever looked at on the web. They may also sell your search history to the highest bidder. Certainly the government has free access to it. All true, but his statement also explains what his mission is NOT, and his most rabid devotees do not understand this. |

Those are the classic interpretations. Apply them at your peril. :) Do we need an interpreter or something? I know what the words mean. He does not. They have nothing to do with this Nobel prize discussion, and THAT IS MY BEEF with your little puppy. He, like millions of others, uses words he doesn't understand, in contexts where they have no purpose. He does this because at the moment when he has an uncontrollable need to write something, anything, he just reaches into his panties and you've seen the result. I'll just say this and I'm leaving this "discussion" to you. Your stock in trade lately is insult and I had thought you were smarter than that.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Out of here two;) |

Bassy, Everyone wants to know, and I was elected to ask you, do you prefer to kiss bass or pick loogies? And of course he misrepresented my statements (anyone surprised?). I never said he called me names, I made reference to him calling others names, Coulter for instance. Another intellectually dishonest progressive, who would have thought;) |

Hugh Bimbo, as Michael Savage calls him. The bimbo who said this: "I always say my real purpose is to attract the largest audience I can, and hold it for as long as I can, so I can charge confiscatory advertising rates," the talk show host says. And what's wrong with that? Nothing. It's free enterprise. But, it's got nothing to do with improving the country politically. Agree. I will occasionally listen to Limbaugh, not for substance but entertainment (to me) value.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Hurmph... I find him kind of boring, of course I have not heard him since 83' when they played it in the shop. Guess that's why I find it funny that the intellectually dishonest here accuse me of it every day;) It's easy for them, kind of like talk radio.. they don't really want to work or produce a product anyone wants to hear, so they will legislate themselves into an income, they really have not earned... It's all about self indulgence, it's all about non-accountability. OK - we've eliminated Hush Bimbo as the source for your silly use of the word "communism", or sometimes "socialism". That means you just pull the word outta your ass when you need to torpedo a discussion. Doug, how do you define 'discussion'? A simple, brief explanation will suffice, something you could say to an economics class. |

True, 9/11 would have happened one way or another. Any time a country allows freedom plus wealth for it's citizens it is a target. Unfortunately those in power want to keep the world stupid and enslaved will always focus their citizens ignorance and hate of a crappy life towards the US. When in fact it is their own religious or fanactical dictator that does it to them. But America should get out. Their people learn best from the brutality of their own. But Gore is an opportunistic PoS. Lets hope we don't get a limp biscuit "prez". I'll bet he's talked into it. Plus, he can't resist it. If only to put it to the Clintons for basically abandoning him in 2000. :) |
