Hello everyone,
I have been reading through these posts and finding them most interesting. I hope you don't mind me poking my head in and nosing around. I am a 30-something guy who loves being on the water. for the past 15 years or so I have been wilderness canoeing, went to Sea Cadets as a teen, and have always had water as an element of my life. A growing family, and career have meant fewer and fewer weeks away from home for the canoeing stints, and my attention has turned to sailing as a way to get my on water fix - its easier to untie a boat from the dock and sail off than to pack all the gear and load a canoe on the trailer. For the past year my wife and I have been crewing on an older Catalina 27, and are humming and hawing about buying a boat of our own. We just completed the Canadian Yachting Ass'n Basic Course and are now deemed to be competent Daysailors. (Yay, I fooled them!) I'm in the process of boat shopping, and will likely pepper you with the typically boring questions about hulls, sail plans and layouts that newbies shopping for boats tend to fill these boards with. Please be patient. I will likely be contributing a lot of questions and few answers, but where I feel my opinion is of help, I'll be sure to chime in. This seems like a good community, Its great meeting you, Prospector. -- Message posted via http://www.boatkb.com |
