I may give a rec.boater a better deal.

How much did they offer you for a trade in, or did you try?

I didn't try. I don't really care if I don't sell it any time soon. If
someone bites, good. If not, I'll lower the price. I'd let it go for about
$4500, or I may take it out to Carmax and see what they'll give me.

45, I say keep it out there till you get it...

Ugly color.

Ugly truck.

And it's a GM.

I'll give you $10.

Yay! Yippee! My first offer!

Now we can start negotiating.

How about $5890?

$10.

You guys are ruining my fantasy bout heading down over the border and
picking up a cheap, rustless southeren truck.
Almost $6k for a 13 year old truck... and a standard transmission to boot!
Is that what they go for there?

Make an offer!

His old pickup truck is probably worth no more than $4500 at best. He is
being greedy.

Of course! And, I know what kind of mechanical shape it's in.

With the wife and my 2nd son as occasional drivers...I'm forced to stay with
an automatic.
Besides, I still have 1.5 years left on the Ranger lease.

Didn't you mean to say you will sell it for $5000 better than the
best offer you get from anyone else?

I certainly hope someone makes you an offer of $7,000 over your
asking price.

Me too, but I didn't say OBO anywhere!

yeah, but if you offer someone in rec.boats, $5000 below asking price,
you will only make $900, but if someone offers you $12,900 and you give
them $5000 of, you can sell them the boat for $7900. I just made u an
extra $2000.

See how easy it is.

Easy? He's not selling a boat. Better start there.

Your son should buy it and drive it, more than occasionally, to job
interviews. He could sell it for what he paid when he lands that
executive position with the new company car.
