I've even had the chance to be a Magistrate at Traffic Court for one
day - that was a blast.

HANG 'EM!!! :)

Barney Fife took the day off and Gomer had to work? ;-)

Pretty much actually. They rotate the Traffic Magistrate duties
around all the towns in the Superior Court District and my name came
up so I did it.

It was fun.

When Living in Indiana in the late 70's, My Honda CB 750 got me into a
few scrapes with speeding.

That was before all the insurance mayhem etc. and you just took the
ticket to the "JP court" and the old gal with the thick glass's,
painted eyebrows and in-general Tammy Bakker makeup with the duster
around ehr head, OH YEAH, and Pall Mall hanging out her mouth would
say, "Ok, son, how do you plead"

"Guilty as usual, ma'am"

She'd give a couple weak coughs, look over her cat-eyed glasses at me,
and say"

$1.00 fine and $47.00 court costs...

"Yes ma'am"

over and done with.

I bet it was.

But I also bet that many of the judgements are disputed and reversed.

None actually.

I'm very liberal in that respect.

I only hung the ones that deserved it. :)

BTW .... Anybody know where the traditional "3 mile" territorial limit
originated?
Answer at 11.

Eisboch

I believe it was the distance that could be practically defended by
cannon fire from shoreside batteries.

And right you are.

The three mile limit was originally defined as the practical range of
shoreside cannon fire.

Some of those religions are generous handing out credentials.
I've got an older cousin who got himself tied up with that Utah gang and now
goes around calling himself a 'priest'.
I don't believe he ever attended highschool let alone university.
