Murder, in other words. And by right, he should have his balls nailed to the floor, given a butter knife and told he's free to leave anytime he wishes. Perhaps that's coming soon. I recall when people got away with this sort of thing and received a sentence that was equivalent to nothing. When I was living on Long Island, I was acquainted with a bunch of Nassau County highway cops because the store where I worked did CB radio work for them. One of the cops was writing a ticket on the LIE one night when some drunk hit him. Somehow, the guy's bumper snagged the cop's belt, dragging him for about a mile. The belt finally broke, leaving the cop on the side of the road. A few CBers followed the drunk off the highway and onto a side road. For some reason, they didn't kill him. The funeral was definitely a closed casket affair. The drunk got 6 months of community service, working in an emergency room, and had his license revoked. Some justice. Yes justice is blind. Here in California, a young driver ran over and killed a pedestrian while drunk. Got 25 years in prison. Same city and a off duty cop with a blood alcohol level of .20 runs over and kills a person in a crosswalk. Got 1 year in the pokey. Judge said, he was suffering enough, he lost his job, and the family lost it's bread winner. Some justice. |
